Brain Foods for Better Memory

Most people know that there are certain foods that aid the memory especially for adults who are getting older. However, even those who are younger may start eating healthy foods that also protect the brain from deteriorating in its functions. Studies are being conducted today and results show that the brain can still generate new cells. This new findings give hope to most people as they have believed that their brains cells are no longer able to create new ones that they desperately needs as they grow older. However, people have to take note of particular nutrients that they get from the healthy foods that they have to include in their meal plans.
In order to keep the brain healthy and able to replenish the cells, individuals have to include healthy fats such as Omega3. Some of the foods that they can include are salmon, tuna, canola oil, flaxseed oil, eggs and walnuts too. People also need foods that are rich in antioxidants for the protection of brain cells from the harmful free radicals. They can eat lots of berries especially blueberries, carrots, broccoli, garlic, spinach, tomatoes and many other fresh fruits and vegetables.
Aside from protecting the brain cells and helping the brain to create new ones, people also have to provide nourishment for their neurotransmitters as well. These are the messengers of the brain that send signals especially when processing information. Tryptophan for example can be derived from eggs, dairies, soy and seafood as well. However, it is important for people to stay away from foods that are rich in unhealthy fats and those that contain too much salt. The brain also works better if people drink enough water each day. They must see to it that their bodies are well hydrated so that they may be able to make use of their brain capacity more effectively.
People should also include foods that are rich in various vitamins especially those that boost memory power like vitamins B6, B12, C, Calcium and Iron too. Those who are not able to get it from the food that they eat every day may consider taking vitamin supplements instead. People also need to eat fibrous foods in order to regulate the amount of sugar that goes into their bloodstream. Fiber tends to slow down the influx of blood sugar in the body thereby providing a more stable source of energy for the brain to function more efficiently. Those who are able to eat foods with these nutrients may be able to boost their memory power until they grow old.
